Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add a new starter?
Tap the "+" button on the home screen. Give your starter a name, choose the flour type, and set your feeding ratio. Your starter will appear on the home screen.
How do I log a feeding?
Open your starter and tap "Log Feeding." Choose your feeding ratio (1:1:1, 1:2:2, 1:5:5, or custom), optionally note the smell, rise, bubbles, and room conditions, then tap Save.
How do I set up reminders?
Go to your starter's detail page and tap on Reminders. Active starters support 1x, 2x, or 3x daily reminders on specific weekdays. Refrigerated starters support weekly, bi-weekly, or tri-weekly reminders.
Can I track multiple starters?
Yes! You can add unlimited starters, each with their own feeding schedule, reminders, and history.
What do the status options mean?
Active: regular feeding schedule with daily reminders. Refrigerated: slowed down with weekly/bi-weekly/tri-weekly reminders. Dormant: long-term storage with no automatic reminders.
Does the app work offline?
Core features (feeding logs, reminders, health checks) work fully offline. Some features require internet: weather-based recommendations, cloud backup, ad loading, and in-app purchases.
How does cloud backup work?
Premium users can back up all data to their own iCloud (iOS) or Google Drive (Android). Go to Settings → Cloud Backup. Your data is stored in your personal cloud account — we never have access to it. You can restore from backup on a new device.
What's the difference between Premium and Remove Ads?
Remove Ads ($1.99): removes all ads. Premium ($9.99 one-time): removes ads plus unlocks photo timeline, hydration calculator, smart health tips, and cloud backup.
Why am I not receiving notifications?
Check your device settings: iOS: Settings → Sourdough Starter → Notifications → Allow. Android: Settings → Apps → Sourdough Starter → Notifications → Turn on. Also check that battery optimization is not killing the app in the background.
