Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hello a Day?
At medicine time, an alarm rings on the parent's phone and they tap Record as taken. If the parent agrees, family who live apart can see on their own phone whether the medicine was taken, get a notification when a dose is missed, and send a short note. Hello a Day is a reminder tool and does not give medical advice. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
What can family see? Can sharing be turned off?
Only family the parent approves can see medicines and times, whether and when each dose was taken, and the parent's phone check-in and alarm-related settings. The parent can stop at any time in Settings › Family who see my medicine, choosing the person and tapping Stop sharing. On the free plan, family see only the last 12 months of records.
The alarm didn't ring.
On the parent's phone, open Settings › Alarm settings › Alarm permissions and allow everything listed. On a family member's phone, Settings › Alarm settings › Device setup guide shows the power and battery settings for the parent's phone model. Alarms may not ring in Do Not Disturb or silent mode, when the battery is flat, when the phone is off, or after signing out. An alarm stops by itself after 5 minutes, and if it isn't acknowledged, family who share are notified. If family see that the phone has no signal or notifications are off, contact the parent and ask them to open the app once or turn the setting back on.
My parent and I live in different time zones.
Alarms ring at the parent's local time. If a family member's phone is in a different time zone, the parent's times are shown with "Your time" next to them in the family member's local time.
My parent is traveling or in hospital for a while.
Tap Mark as away or in hospital in Settings on the parent's phone, or on the parent's screen on a family member's phone. Until the date you choose (up to 30 days), family won't get missed-dose or no-signal alerts. To skip just one day's medicine, tap Skip today.
Can I add medicines from a photo?
Yes. On the parent's phone, tap Add a medicine › Photograph the label and take a photo of the pharmacy bag or medicine label. After a one-time consent, Google's Gemini AI reads it and fills in names and times. The AI can be wrong, so always compare with the photo before saving. Without consent, the parent can still send the photo to family or type medicines in. Photos are deleted right after saving and within a day otherwise; photos sent to family are deleted within 14 days at most. Consent can be withdrawn any time in Settings › Medicines › Withdraw AI photo reading consent.
What is Plus, and how do I cancel?
Plus is a monthly or annual subscription bought by a family member. When one person subscribes, the whole family, including parents, gets it: up to 8 connected adults (2 on free), a clinic visit report PDF, and records older than 12 months. First-time subscribers may get a 7-day free trial. Cancel in App Store or Google Play subscription settings; in the app, Settings › Plan › Manage subscription opens the right page. When Plus ends, alarms and connected family keep working.
I changed phones or reinstalled the app.
Sign in the same way you did before (Apple or Google) and your family and records come back. Apple and Google sign-ins are separate accounts unless you connected both in Settings › Sign-in methods, so signing in the other way shows the setup screen; sign out and use your previous method instead. If your subscription is missing, tap Settings › Plan › Restore purchase. The Sign in with email option is only for accounts we have set up and told you about.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings › Account › Delete account and data and confirm. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. If a family member deletes their account, the parent's records stay in the parent's account; if a parent deletes theirs, their medicines and records are all deleted. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription, so cancel it first. See the Delete Account page for details.
